NIFFA is committed to promoting film links between Australia and India. The key to stronger links is identifying, supporting, encouraging, and mentoring the coming generations of Australian film professionals from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds. With this in mind, NIFFA opens nominations for The Faces to Watch. These faces will be the one to watch in the near future. They will be film professionals who are just starting on their journey in the film industry connecting Australia and India in some way, anyway.

Nominations close 5PM AEDT Tuesday 25th February.

Actor/Mentor/Producer

Viveck Vaswani

Viveck Vaswani is an actor, producer, writer, distributor for over 42 years, and has produced 15 films, 3 TV shows and acted in more than 60 films. Considered to be an institution in himself with his encyclopaedic knowledge of Indian Cinema he is also known for mentoring Shah Rukh Khan along with Raveena Tandon, Aziz Mirza, Boman Irani, Rahul Bose, MukulDev, Sanjay Gupta , Anant Mahadevan, Vyom Yadav amongst others.

Viveck is currently producing one of the first coproduction with Australia and consulting with Australian films in India

Tannishtha Chatterjee

Tannishtha Chatterjee is an acclaimed actor and filmmaker, known for her versatility in Indian and international cinema. A graduate of the National School of Drama and a trained Hindustani classical vocalist, she also completed a theatre fellowship in Europe. Tannishtha gained global recognition with her BAFTA-nominated performance in Brick Lane (2007). Often called the “queen of indie cinema,” she has starred in films like Shadows of Time, Parched, Angry Indian Goddesses, and Road, Movie, earning accolades at Berlin, Toronto, and Venice. Her directorial debut, Roam Rome Mein (2019), premiered at Busan, cementing her as a dynamic storyteller.

Festival Director/Film Maker

Anupam Sharma

Anupam Sharma needs no introduction as a film maker and film entrepreneur who is credited as having pioneered Australia India film links. One of the first Indian born Australian film graduates, Anupam has mentored a diverse range of film students in various roles behind and front of camera through his company TEMPLE over the last 25 years.

Anupam will not only mentor but provide professionally useful references and contacts to ensure the chosen faces have the best opportunities to bridge Australian and Indian film cultures.
